Edmonton 2 Kootenay 1

Cranbrook, BC – Edmonton scored the game winner on a 3rd period power-play in a 2-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Sunday night.

Edmonton opened the scoring as Craig McCallum was left alone near the net and converted on a feed from Brenden Dowd.
Dowd leads the WHL in scoring with 9 points.
ICE tied it late in the 2nd period on a power-play with Andrew Bailey scoring on a backhand shot after finding a loose puck in the slot. The goal ended an 0/29 stretch on their power-play.
Edmonton regained the lead on the power-play as Brent Raedeke got a loose puck and scored on backhand shot.

Oil Kings goalie Cam Lanigan made his 1st WHL start and earned the win with 25 saves.

The crowd was the smallest to see a regular season game in Cranbrook.

The ICE have 26 players on their roster and will make 3-4 cuts this week. They’ll host Swift Current & Kelowna on Saturday and Sunday.
