Regina 5 Kootenay 4

Goaltending was the difference as the Regina Pats Jeff Bosch made 38 saves in a 5-4 win over the Kootenay ICE. The Pats lead 3-0 at 5:36 of the 2nd period and the ICE changed goalies with Thomas Heesmskerk replacing Nathan Lieuwen. It's the 2nd game in a row that the ICE starting netminder didn't finish the game. The ICE scored a season high 3 power-play goals to tie the game with Andrew Bailey (2), Steele Boomer (1) and Kevin King (2) tying the game late in the 2nd. Less than 2 minutes later the Pats' regained the lead and added a shorthanded goal in the 3rd for the win. Ian Barteaux scored with 3 seconds left to make it a 1-goal decision. 9 of the clubs' 10 game have been 1 goal decisons or a 2-goal decision with an empty netter. Matt Fraser returned to the line-up with 2 assists. Dustin Sylvester took the pre-game skate but was a scratch.
It was a highly entertaining game with the ICE out-shooting, out-hitting and out-chancing the opposition.
The club has rotated the goalie starts most of the season but maybe the time has come for 1 of the 2 guys to grab the starting role.
Next game is Friday in Moose Jaw.
