ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 23-20-2-5 record (13-9-1-2 at home, 10-11-1-3 on the road, 7-2-5 in overtime) and in seventh place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and in tenth place overall in the WHL…This week the ICE will host REGINA (January 27) and BRANDON (January 30) before traveling to SPOKANE (January 31).

MAZDA NIGHT: When the ICE hosts the REGINA PATS on January 27 it will be MAZDA NIGHT…Fans in the attendance will have the opportunity to win a watch, mugs and many other items.

UNUSED SEASON TICKETS: Season Ticket Holders who have unused season tickets can exchange them for any regular season game at a cost of $3.00 per ticket…The unused tickets must have the ticket stub attached in order to be eligible…Tickets can be exchanged any time at the KOOTENAY ICE Office and Kootenay Collectibles.

SUPER SIX FLEX PACKS: The sale of SUPER SIX FLEX PAKS continues…You get six game certificates to use at your convenience – total flexibility…SUPER SIX FLEX PAKS are available in Adult, Senior, Student and Youth packages.

FAMILY PACKS: The ICE have FAMILY PACKS on sale for Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday home games during the 2008-2009 season…FAMILY PACKS are $45.00 and include two adult tickets, two youth or student tickets, a parking voucher, a game program voucher, and two McDonald Happy Meal vouchers…For more information, or to purchase a FAMILY PACK, call or visit the KOOTENAY ICE Office.

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 13-0-1-0 when leading after the second period, 4-18-0-3 when losing and 6-2-1-2 when tied…The ICE are 15-2-1-1 when they score the first goal of the game and 8-18-1-4 when their opponent scores first…KOOTENAY is 17-13-2-4 when outshooting their opponent, 5-6-0-1 when being outshot and 1-1-0-0 when the shots are tied…RYAN FOX and TODD MATHEWS each recorded their first assists with the ICE against BRANDON on January 24…HAYDEN RINTOUL, who recorded his first WHL career hat trick against PRINCE ALBERT on January 21, tied a franchise record for the most points in one game by a defenseman with five against the RAIDERS (3-2-5)…RINTOUL is the second ICE defenseman in franchise history to record a hat trick in a game (STEVE MCCARTHY – 1998 – 1999) …ANDREW BAILEY, who recorded his 200 WHL point against SWIFT CURRENT on January 17, is tied for eighth in the League in power play goals with nine…TYLAN STEPHENS needs five more points to reach 100 in his WHL career.

SCORING STREAKS: JESSE ISMOND (2-6-8) and TYLAN STEPHENS (4-4-8) have each recorded at least a point in their last six games…ANDREW BAILEY (2-4-6) and JOE ANTILLA (1-3-4) have each recorded at least a point in their last three games.

INJURIES: STEELE BOOMER will be out of the KOOTENAY line up indefinitely with a concussion…DUSTIN SYLVESTER will be out of the ICE line up eight to ten weeks with an ankle injury…TYLER VANSCOURT will be out of the KOOTENAY line up four to six weeks with a shoulder injury…BRAYDEN MCNABB (concussion) and MAX REINHART (shoulder) will both be out of the ICE line up day to day.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 50 games of the 2007-2008 season the ICE were 29-16-4-1, after 51 games 29-17-4-1 and after 52 games 29-18-4-1.
