Kootenay 4 Calgary 3 OT

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Max Reinhart scored at 4:03 of overtime in a 4-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen in WHL action on Thursday night.

ICE opened the scoring on a 5-on-3 penalty-kill as defenseman Brayden McNabb’s sweep check knocked the puck off a Calgary stick near the crease and it went in through the goalies’ legs.
Calgary tied it 1-1 as Bostjan Golicic’s long shot beat a screened goalie.
Calgary made it 2-1 on a power-play as the original point shot missed the net and came out the other side to a wide open Michael Stone.
Less than a minute later the ICE tied the game 2-2 as Ian Barteaux’ waist high point shot was deflected in by Drew Czerwonka.
ICE regained the lead as newly acquired Christian Magnus completed a 3-on-2 break.
Hitmen tied it again as Tyler Fiddler got a rebound and poked it behind the fallen goalie.
In overtime Max Reinhart got the winner on a rebound after Tylan Stephens original shot was stopped but went to a wide open ICE player.

ICE goalie Nathan Lieuwen did not take part in the pre-game skate as his equipment was lost on his flight back from the Top Prospects Game in Oshawa. The gear arrived at the rink 20 minutes before the game.

The ICE will host Swift Current on Saturday.
