Cranbrook, BC – Prince Albert Raiders forward Brandon Herrod had 1 goal and 2 assists in a 5-3 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Wednesday night.
Raiders opened the scoring on a power-play as they crashed the net on a 3-on-1 break and Jordan Hickmott redirected a pass from Brandon Herrod.
Herrod made it 2-0 on a shorthanded breakaway and scored with a snap shot on the stick side.
ICE made it 2-1 late in the 1st period on a power-play as defenseman Ian Barteaux snuck in from the blue line and found loose puck near the crease and put it over top of the scrambling netminder.
James Dobrolowski made it 3-1 with a long wrist shot that beat the unscreened goalie on the glove side.
Dobrolowski got his 2nd of the game on a goal mouth scramble on the power-play.
Ryan Kowalski scored his 1st of the season with a wrist shot off a face-off win.
ICE scored 2 power-play goals late on deflections from Drew Czerwonka and Max Reinhart.
The ICE will host Regina on Friday.
ICE Scratches – Nathan Lieuwen (concussion, 12th missed game), Tyler Vanscourt (shoulder, 14th missed game), Dustin Sylvester (ankle, 25th missed game), Steele Boomer (concussion, 22nd missed game) and James Martin (game 2 of a 3 game league suspension).
Lieuwen is close to doing more off ice activities.
Vanscourt is skating and is 2-3 weeks away.
Sylvester has had his final cast removed and can now rehabilitate the leg muscles.
Boomer will soon take part in contact drills.
