Kootenay 5 Medicine Hat 2

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE Captain Andrew Bailey scored 2 3rd period breakaway goals in a 5-2 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL action on Sunday night.

ICE opened the scoring on a power-play as the club won a puck battle behind the net and Kevin King was alone in front for a chip in.
Tigers tied it on 4-on-3 power-play as Tomas Kundratek was left alone in the slot and scored on a wrist shot on the stick side.
ICE regained the lead on a 2-on-1 break as Drew Czerwonka finished a pass from Steele Boomer.
ICE made it 3-1 as Dominik Pacovsky stole the puck in the Tigers’ and fed Andrew Bailey on a partial breakaway and scored on a backhand deke.
On a delayed penalty Ian Barteaux scored with a slap shot through the goalies legs.
Tigers had only 1 shot on goal in the 3rd and it was a goal from Josh Koper who got originated the shot from behind the net and put it into the net off an ICE player.
Bailey ended the scoring on a breakaway with a wrist shot high on the glove side.

ICE will visit Edmonton on Wednesday.
