Red Deer 4 Kootenay 3 OT Game #20

Cranbrook, BC – Red Deer Rebel defenseman Colin Archer scored at 1:54 of overtime in a 4-3 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Saturday night.

The ICE got the first goal of the game on a powerplay as Dustin Sylvester receieved a pass in the missle slot, fended off a Rebel for wrist a shot high on the glove side.
Rebels tied the game as Willie Coetzee receieved a breakaway pass from Andrej Kudrna and scored with a wrist shot high on the glove side.

In the 2nd period the ICE regained their 1-goal lead as Dustin Sylvester scored on a breakaway with a backhand deke through the legs.
Rebels tied the game 2-2 as Kudrna’s wrist shot rolled over the goalies’ shoulder and landed near the goalie and was pushed in by Coetzee.
Rebels took a 3-2 lead as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins floated a high pass to the crease area and was batted in by Brett Ferguson.

ICE forced overtime while shorthanded as Kevin King took the puck from 2 Rebels along the boards, went to the net, and scored on a backhand deke.

In overtime Rebels scored on a rebound as Colin Archer pushed in a long rebound into a gaping open net.

The game was the 2nd half of a home and home with the ICE winning 4-1 in Red Deer on Friday.

ICE scratches – Nathan Lieuwen 5th game (day-to-day), Brayden McNabb 2nd game (knee 4-6 weeks), Luke Paulsen 2nd game (ankle 2-4 weeks), Christian Magnus 18th game (finger day-to-day), Matt Fraser 4th game (knee 1-2 weeks) and Simon Skrudland 2nd game (flu day-to-day).
The ICE were one player short of a complete line-up.

The ICE will visit Calgary on Wednesday afternoon in their next game.
Next home game is Saturday against Tri City.
Rebels are on a trip that has them in Kamloops, Kelowna, Chilliwack and Vancouver.
