Kootenay 6 Lethbridge 1 Game #37

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE Captain Dustin Sylvester scored 3 goals in a 6-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes in WHL action on Saturday night.

The ICE opened the scoring on the powerplay as Brayden McNabb’s point shot was stopped by Brandon Anderson and Kevin King was there to score on the rebound with a forehand wrap-around the goalie.

In the 2nd period the ICE scored on the powerplay as Dustin Sylvester was allowed to step into a slap shot from the right circle that beat the screened goalie. With the goal Sylvster became the 9th player in team history with 200 career points.
ICE made it 3-0 on a 2-man advantage as Sylvester was in the right corner and threw a cross pass to defenseman Brayden McNabb who was in the middle slot and scored on a wrist shot high on the glove side.

In the 3rd period the ICE added another powerplay goal as Dustin Sylvester was wide open at the right circle dot and received a cross ice pass from Hayden Rintoul and scored on a one-timer.
Lethbridge went on 4 consecutive power-plays and eventually scored their only goal and Mitch Maxwell stepped into a slap shot that beat Todd Mathews who was out of position after making 2 spectacular saves.
Sylvester completed his hat-trick on a 2-man advantage as he fired a wrist shot that went into the top corner high on the glove side. It was the 3rd career hat-trick for the ICE forward.
ICE tied a franchise record with their 6th power-play goal of the game with defenseman Petr Senkerik scoring on a slap shot from the blueline.
McNabb had a career night with 4 points while Hayden Rintoul had 3 assists.

ICE scratches – Dominik Pacovsky 12th game (ankle 1-3 weeks), Luke Paulsen & Elgin Pearce.

The WHL is now on a holiday break, the ICE will host Calgary on December 27th.
