ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 39-19-3-2 record (19-9-2-1 at home, 20-10-1-1 on the road, 4-3 in overtime, 5-2 in shootouts) and in fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and fifth place overall in the WHL…KOOTENAY will finish the 2009-2010 regular season with an above .500 record for the 11th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE…The ICE have clinched a playoff spot for the 12th consecutive season and have posted a 34-8-3-2 record since October 30th…KOOTENAY will play five of their remaining nine regular season games at home.

EKCCU NIGHT: On February 27th when KOOTENAY hosts LETHBRIDGE it will be EAST KOOTENAY COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION NIGHT…EKCCU will be raising money for the KOOTENAY CHILD HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTRE with their orange puck toss.

HOCKEYVILLE: When the ICE host the HURRICANES on February 27th the CRANBROOK HOCKEYVILLE COMMITTEE will be hosting a tailgate party…CBC television will be in town to video tape CRANBROOK in its bid to be KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE for 2010…Everyone is encouraged to come and take part in the festivities.

JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: On March 5th when KOOTENAY hosts MEDICINE HAT it will be JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT…Fans at the game will have the opportunity to bid on the new white RBK Edge Jerseys…The winning bid on each jersey will get to meet the player after the game and will receive their jersey at the conclusion of the playoffs…All the money raised will go to the KOOTENAY ICE Scholarship Fund.

PLAYOFF PACKAGES AVAILABLE: 2010 playoff packages are now available until Friday, February 26th at the KOOTENAY ICE Office…Eight game ticket packages are $120.00 for Adults, $96.00 for Seniors and Students, and $64.00 for Youth…For more information on playoff packages, phone 417-0322.

SAVE ON FOODS: The KOOTENAY ICE and SAVE ON FOODS are pleased to offer SAVE ON FOODS TICKET VOUCHERS…Customers can purchase the ticket vouchers at the CRANBROOK SAVE ON FOODS location for all remaining KOOTENAY ICE regular season home games…Cardholders can pick them up for $14.00 plus gst or for free with the redemption of 8,000 SAVE ON MORE points…Non-Cardholders can get their vouchers for $16.00 plus gst.

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 18-5-1-1 against the CENTRAL DIVISION this season and 30-14-3-2 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE…The ICE are 26-0-2-1 when leading after the second period, 4-16-1-0 when their opponent is leading and 9-3-0-0 when they are tied…KOOTENAY is 16th in the WHL in overall power play (18.5%)…The ICE are fifth in the League in overall penalty killing (82.9%)…DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who is fifth in League scoring (34-51-85), needs to play in two more games to reach 300 in his WHL career…SYLVESTER scored his franchise record 14th career shorthanded goal on February 19 against SPOKANE (previous record was 11 held by DUNCAN MILROY)…BRAYDEN MCNABB (16-38-54), who recorded his 100th WHL career point on February 19 against the CHIEFS, is fifth in the WHL for points by a defenseman…MATT FRASER needs four more goals to reach 50 in his WHL career.

INJURY: BROCK MONTGOMERY will be out of the ICE line up two to three weeks with a shoulder injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 63 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 29-26-2-6, after 64 games 30-26-2-6 and after 65 games 31-26-2-6.
