ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 39-22-3-2 record (19-10-2-1 at home, 20-12-1-1 on the road, 4-3 in overtime, 5-2 in shootouts) and in fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and tied for fifth place overall in the WHL…KOOTENAY will finish the 2009-2010 regular season with an above .500 record for the 11th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE…The ICE have clinched a playoff spot for the 12th consecutive season and have posted a 34-11-3-2 record since October 30th…KOOTENAY will play four of their remaining six regular season games at home.

JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: On March 5th when KOOTENAY hosts MEDICINE HAT it will be JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT…Fans at the game will have the opportunity to bid on the new white RBK Edge Jerseys…The winning bid on each jersey will get to meet the player after the game and will receive their jersey at the conclusion of the playoffs…All the money raised will go to the KOOTENAY ICE Scholarship Fund.

SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP: This season KOOTENAY will be facing off against the rest of the CENTRAL DIVISION for a different kind of trophy…The SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP tallies points from head-to-head meetings in the CENTRAL DIVISION and the team with the most points in those head-to-heads at the end of the regular season will be awarded the SUBWAY CENTRAL DIVISION CHALLENGE CUP…Fans can get involved by answering weekly trivia questions to win prizes…To get to the CHALLENGE CUP webpage click on the link at www.kootenayice.net

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY tied a franchise record for the most consecutive home games with a point at 12 (11-0-1 record – December 15, 2009 – February 14, 2010)… The ICE will finish the 2009-2010 regular season with an above .500 record for the 11th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE…KOOTENAY will finish the regular season with a .500 or better road record for the ninth time in the last 11 seasons…The ICE are 16th in the WHL in overall power play (18.5%)…KOOTENAY is fifth in the League in overall penalty killing (82.6%)…The ICE are 18-8-1-1 against the CENTRAL DIVISION this season and 30-17-3-2 against the EASTERN CONFERENCE…DUSTIN SYLVESTER, who is fifth in League scoring (34-54-88), played in his 300th WHL career game on February 26 against MEDICINE HAT…SYLVESTER scored his franchise record 14th career shorthanded goal on February 19 against SPOKANE (previous record was 11 held by DUNCAN MILROY)…BRAYDEN MCNABB (16-39-55), who recorded his 100th WHL career point on February 19 against the CHIEFS, is fifth in the WHL for points by a defenseman…MATT FRASER. who needs two more goals to reach 50 in his WHL career, needs to record eight more points to reach 100 in his WHL career.

INJURY: BROCK MONTGOMERY will be out of the ICE line up for one week with a shoulder injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 66 games of the 2008-2009 season the ICE were 31-27-2-6, after 67 games 32-27-2-6 and after 68 games 33-27-2-6.
