Kootenay 4 Medicine Hat 0 Playoff Game #2

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Kevin King scored 2 goals and goalie Todd Mathews made 20 saves in a 4-0 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL Playoff action on Saturday night.

ICE opened the scoring on a 2-man advantage power-play as Steele Boomer fed Kevin King in front of the net and scored on a one-timer through the legs of the goalie.

In the second period the ICE took a 2-0 lead on a 2-on-1 break that started at their blue line and Matt Fraser saucered a pass to a streaking Max Reinhart who scored on wrist shot on the stick side.
ICE made it 3-0 on a power-play as Dominik Pacovsky high wrist shot that was blocked and went to a Kevin King who along the goal line 15 feet away from the net and scored from the sharp angle.
ICE defenseman Luke Paulsen body checked Kale Kessy at centre ice and the collision broke a plane of plex-glass at the time keeper’s area. The delay to fix it was a quick 9 minutes.

In the 3rd period Drew Czerwonka created a 2-on-1 break and fed a wide open Elgin Pearce who lifted the puck over the glove hand.

ICE scratches – Jagger Dirk and Brendan Hurley.

Game 3 is Tuesday in Medicine Hat.
