From The ICE Office

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 1-0-0-0 record (1-0-0-0 at home, 0-0-0-0 on the road, 0-0-0 in overtime) and in third place in the CENTRAL DIVISION…The ICE finished the 2009-2010 regular season with a 43-24-3-2 record (21-12-2-1 at home, 22-12-1-1 on the road, 49-3-2 in overtime) and in fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and tied for eighth place overall in the WHL…The ICE will play two of their next three games at home before embarking on a four game road trip (October 9 – 13).

SEASON TICKETS: Fans wishing to purchase Season Tickets can still get them until 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 28…The ICE Office currently has many great seats available…On Wednesday, September 29 at 10:00 am individual game tickets for the remainder of the 2010-2011 regular season will go on sale to the general public.

BELDING WILLIAMS MORTGAGE TEAM/ KOOTENAY HAVEN / WOMEN’S TRANSITION HOUSE NIGHT: When KOOTENAY hosts the SPOKANE CHIEFS on Friday, October 1 it will be a fundraiser evening for KOOTENAY HAVEN and WOMEN’S TRANSITION HOUSE brought to you by BELDING WILLIAMS MORTGAGE TEAM…Fans in attendance can support the two safe houses for women by bidding on jerseys in Section U.

ROSTER UPDATE: The ICE have 25 players on their roster, including three goalies, eight defensemen and 14 forwards…KOOTENAY begins the 2010-2011 season with 19 returning players and six first year players.

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY has a 8-3-2 record in season openers (5-1-1 at home, 3-2-1 on the road)…
KRIS KNOBLAUCH recorded his first win as Head Coach on September 25 against CALGARY…NATHAN LIEUWEN recorded his fourth WHL career shutout on September 25 against the HITMEN (25 saves)…The ICE finished the 2009-2010 regular season with an above .500 record for the 11th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE…KOOTENAY finished last season with 43 wins marking the seventh time in franchise history and fifth in the last six years that the Club has recorded at least 40 wins in a season…The ICE made their 12th consecutive playoff appearance last season and were defeated by the MEDICINE HAT TIGERS in six games of the EASTERN CONFERENCE QUARTER FINAL…KOOTENAY was 21-11-1-1 against teams from the CENTRAL DIVISION during the 2009-2010 season (10-6-1-0 at home, 11-5-0-1 on the road, 5-1-1 in overtime)...Defenseman BRAYDEN MCNABB (BUFFALO SABRES) remains at NHL Training Camp.

ONE YEAR AGO: After one game of the 2009-2010 season the ICE were 1-0-0-0, after two games 1-1-0-0 and after three games were 2-1-0-0.
