Kootenay 5 Swift Current 3 Game #39

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Max Reinhart had 1 goal and 2 assists in a 5-3 win over the Swift Current in WHL action on Friday night.

Broncos opened the scoring on the powerplay as Reece Scarletts’ point shot went through the legs of the goalies.
ICE tied the game 1-1 on a powerplay as defenseman Brayden McNabb’s slapshot from the point went through the goalies legs.
McNabb is now the Franchise Record holder for most career defenseman points with 135.

Broncos took a 2-1 lead on a powerplay as Adam Lowry had a bouncing puck fin him in the crease and he rolled it into the net.
ICE tied the game 2-2 os Max reinhart found Matt Fraser at the left circle and his wrist shot beat the goalie shortside on the stickside.
Broncos got the lead back as Adam Lowry got his 2nd of the period with a shot from close to the net that rolled over the galies’ shoulders and into the net.
ICE tied the game again on the rush as Joe Antilla dropped a pass to Steele Boomer whose onetime slapshot was defelcted to the net and Kevin King was there to swat it into the net.

ICE took an early lead in the 3rd period as Max Reinhart backhanded from the deep circle a chip shot that beat the goal on the far side.
The Broncos could only manage 1 shot on goal in the 3rd period and pulled their goalie in the final minite. Drew Czerwonka fed Matt Fraser on a breakaway and scored into the empty net.

ICE will visit Edmonton on Sunday afternoon.

ICE Scratches – Hayden Rintoul (15th game knee day-to-day), John Neibrandt.

Forward Brock Montgomery was used as a defenseman for the 1st time in his WHL career. He played defense for half a season in minor hockey and learned a lot from watching his older brother Bo who played defense for a few years in the WHL.
