Kootenay 5 Moose Jaw 1 Game #67

Cranbrook, BC – Cody Eakin had 1 goal and 3 assists as the Kootenay ICE beat the Moose Jaw warriors 5-1 in WHL action on Tuesday night.

Moose Jaw opened the scoring as Spencer Edwards was open in the low slot and lifted a shot off the cross bar and into the net.
ICE tied the game on the powerplay as Brayden McNabb’s shot was stopped and the rebound was put away by Matt Fraser.

In the 2nd period the ICE scored 2 goal 39 seconds apart.
On the powerplay Max Reinhart fed Cody Eakin with a cross ice pass and he scored with a one time shot high on the stick side.
The ICE made it 3-1 as Elgin Pearce was near the crease for the rebound goal.

In the 3rd period the ICE made it 4-1 as Max Reinhart drove the slot and scored with a wrist shot that found it’s way through the goalie.
The ICE scored their 3rd powerplay goal of the game as Brayden McNabb from the blueline scored with a wrist shot that beat the screened goalie high on the glove side.
Warriors changed goalies as Brandon Stone replaced Thomas Heemskerk.

The ICE and Warriors split their 4 game regular season series with the home team winning each game.

McNabb has set the season records for assists in a season for a defenseman (44 Gerard Dicaire 02-03) and points in a season for a defenseman (63 Mike Busto 06-07) and tied for most goals by a defenseman (20 Mike Busto 06-07).

Cody Eakin was named ICE player of the month for February

ICE have 5 games left in he regular season and will host Swift Current on Friday.

ICE Scratches – Luke Paulsen (7th game shoulder 4 weeks), Brock Montgomery (8th game hip 1 week).
Paulsen no longer has to keep his arm in a sling and the latest from the medical staff is that he is still 4 weeks away from playing.
Montgomery plans to skate this week and could return next week.
