ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week’s action with a 1-0-0-1 record (1-0-0-0 at home, 0-0-0-on the road, 0-0-1 in overtime) and in second place in the CENTRAL DIVISION…KOOTENAY claimed their third WHL Championship last season (2000, 2002, 2011) and won the ED CHYNOWETH CUP after beating the PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS in the WHL FINALS...The ICE finished the 2010-2011 regular season with a 46-21-1-4 record (26-8-1-1 at home, 20-13-0-2 on the road, 5-1-4 in overtime) and in fourth place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE and seventh place overall in the WHL…The ICE will play their next two games at home before embarking on a three game CENTRAL DIVISION road trip (October 2 - 8).
SEASON TICKETS: Season Tickets are still available until 7:00 pm on Friday, September 30th…The ICE Office currently has many great seats available…On Monday, October 3rd at 10:00 am individual game tickets for the remainder of the 2011-2012 regular season will go on sale to the general public.
ROSTER UPDATE: The ICE have 25 players on their roster, including two goalies, seven defensemen and 16 forwards…Of the 25 players there are three 20-year-olds; eight 19-year-olds; four 18-year-olds; four 17-year-olds and six 16-year-olds..KOOTENAY begins the 2011-2012 season with 14 returning players from last year.
DID YOU KNOW: BROCK MONTGOMERY recorded a career high four points in a game on September 24th against CALGARY (0-4-4)...NATHAN LIEUWEN is third among goaltenders in the LEAGUE with a save percentage of .949...JOEY LEACH is tied for third in the WHL for points by a defenceman with three (1-2-3)...KOOTENAY finished the 2010-2011 regular season with an above .500 record for the 12th consecutive season, which is the longest active streak in the LEAGUE.
TRANSACTION: Goaltender BRETT TESKEY (June 23, 1993) has been reassigned to a team and League to be determined.
ONE YEAR AGO: After one game of the 2010-2011 season the ICE were 1-0-0-0, after two games 1-1-0-0 and after three games 2-1-0-0.
