Kootenay 5 Regina 2 Game #4

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Max Reinhart had 2 goals and 2 assists in a 5-2 win over the Regina Pats in WHL action on Friday night.

Regina opened the scoring on the powerplay as Chandler Stephenson fed Lane Scheidl in the slot and he shot rolled into the net over the goalies shoulder.
ICE tied the game late in the period as Joe Antilla created a turnover in the Pats’ zone and from the corner Dylen McKinlay found a wide open Max Reinhart in the slot and he scored with a shot high on the stick side.

In the 2nd period the Pats took a 2-1 lead on a shorthanded 2-on-1 break as Jordan Weal fed defenseman Brandon Underwood who as alone in the slot and scored with a wrist shot on the stick side.
ICE scored 2 straight goals on deflections, the 1st one was off a face-off win as John Neibrandt’s point shot was redirected by Adam Rossignol.
On a powerplay the ICE took their 1st lead of the game as Max Reinhart’s shot from the top of circle was deflected by Dylan McKinlay who was near the goalie and notched his 1st goal in an ICE uniform.

In the 3rd period the ICE got an insurance goal for Elgin Pearce as he went to the net and scored with a backhand shot.
Down 4-2 the Pats pulled the their goalie with a face-off in the ICE zone.
ICE quickly got it out of the zone and from the regina blueline Max reinhart scored into the empty net.

Elgin Pearce and Joey Leach have registered points in all 4 games this season.

It was the 1st ever start for Pats goalie Adam Buekeboom.
Forward Dryden Hunt’s hometown is listed as Nelson but is originally from Kimberley. He played for Trail of the BCHL last season.

It was the 1st start of the season for ICE goalie Mackenzie Skapski who appeared in 4 games last season.
ICE forward Levi Cable made his season debut and he also played in 4 games last season.
The only player not to see game action for the ICE this season is Drew Czerwonka.

ICE will visit Calgary on Sunday afternoon.
