Portland 8 Kootenay 5 Exhibition Game #3

Kennewick, Wash – The Kootenay ICE preseason record dropped to 1-2-0-0 with a 8-5 loss to the Portland Winterhawks.

16-year-old Jaedon Descheneau (1-2-3) and Sam Reinhart (0-3-3) each had 3 point games.
Jagger Dirk, Dylen McKinlay and John Neibrandt each had 1 goal and 1 assist.

This was the 3rd game in 3 days for the ICE and in all 3 games they not only gave up the 1st goal but for the 2nd game in a row they trailed 3-0.
ICE goal in the 1st period came on a power-play as the won the face-off in the offensive zone, Dylen McKinlay got it to the right point to Jagger Dirk who moved it to the left point to Luke Paulsen who scored with a wrist shot that beat the screened goalie high on the glove side.

In the 2nd period the ICE changed goalies as Brett Teskey replaced Wyatt Hoflin.
The ICE 2nd goal came in the 2nd period as John Neibrandt wristed a high shot from the blueline that beat the screened goalie.
The ICE scored another powerplay goal as Sam Reinhart fed a wide open Jaedon Descheneau who had a wide open net from in close. It’s Descheneau’s 2nd goal of the preseason.

On the 1st shift of the 3rd period the ICE scored on a pretty 3-way passing play with Dylen McKinlay finishing the play.
ICE finished the scoring on the powerplay as Jagger Dirk was open in the slot and scored with a wrist shot under the cross bar.

The ICE dressed 12 rookies for the game.

The ICE have 2 preseason games left with both to played in Crowsnest Pass.
Friday they play Lethbridge and Sunday against Calgary.
