Edmonton 6 Kootenay 1 Game #8

Cranbrook, BC – Edmonton Oil Kings Curtis Lazar scored twice and Dylan Wruck had 3 assists in a 6-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Wednesday night.

The ICE gave up 3 1st period goals and is the 2nd time they gave 3 in a period this season. The other time was in the 3rd period in Calgary when one of the goals was an empty netter.

Michael St. Croix opened the scoring on a powerplay when he was left open in front of the net and buried a loose puck.
Curtis Lazar made it 2-0 after a faceoff win in the ICE zone and scored with a wrist shot high on the glove side.
With only 9 seconds left in the 1st period Stephane Legault banged in a rebound.

In the 2nd period Dylan Wruck stole the puck behind the ICE net and fed Lazar in the slot who scored with a one time through the goalies legs.

ICE scored early in the 3rd period on an odd-man rush finished by Jesse Ismond who picked the top corner on the stick side. Max Reinhart extended his point streak to 3 games with an assist.
Edmonton got that goal back less than 2 minutes later as Kristan Pelss created a partial breakaway and scored with a shot high on the stick side.
Mark Pysyk ended the scoring with a wrist shot that went into the net off the goalies’ shoulder.

The last win by Edmonton in Cranbrook was September 28, 2008.

The game was the start of a 3-game homestand for the ICE.
The Oil Kings wrapped up a 5-game in 6-night road trip and they finished with a 4-1-0-0 record.
Edmonton have played 10 games this season with 8 away from home.
Goalie Laurent Brossoit started all 5 games.

ICE will visit host Lethbridge on Friday.
