Kootenay 4 Calgary 2 Game #14

Calgary, Alb – Kootenay ICE forward Eric Benoit had one goal and 1 assist in a 4-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen in WHL action on Sunday night.

The ICE (9-3-0-2) opened the scoring as Mike Simpson scored his 1st career goal with a wrist shot that went through the goalies legs.
With less than 3 seconds left in the 2nd period Brock Montgomery fed a wide open Eric Benoit in the low slot and he scored with a quick shot.

Early in the 2nd period the ICE made it 3-0 as Drew Czerwonka scored on a Max Reinhart rebound.
Calgary (4-5-0-1) scored a power-play goal late in the 2nd period as Brooks Macek fired a wrist shot on the glove side of the screened goalie.

Calgary got within a goal as Trevor Cheeck went coast-to-coast on the powerplay and scored with a shot high on the stick side.
Adam Rossignol added insurance with an empty net goal.

Sam Reinhart has 5 points this year 4 have come against Calgary.
3 of Adam Rossignol’s 5 goals have been against the Hitmen.

The ICE and Hitmen will meet 5 more times this season but not again until February.
The ICE will host Red Deer on Wednesday to start a 7-game homestand.
