Kootenay 7 Kamloops 3 Game #25

Kamloops, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Sam Reinhart had 1 goal and 3 assists in a 7-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers in WHL action on Wednesday night.

The Blazers Josh Caron received a 5-minute major for a hit to the head on Max Reinhart.
On the powerplay Sam Reinhart’s wrist shot was redirected through the goalies’ legs by Drew Czerwonka.
The Blazers tied the game 1-1 before the end of the period.

In the second period the ICE took a 2-1 lead on the powerplay with Drew Czerwonka feeding Jesse Ismond at the back door for a one-time shot.
Max Reinhart scored a powerplay goal with a slapshot from the point.
Dylan McKinlay made it 4-1 with a breakaway goal and scored with a snap shot high on the glove side.
Blazers changed goalies with Cam Lanigan replacing Cole Cheveldave.
The ICE scored 3 goals on 4 shots on the new goalie starting with Sam Reinhart’s attempted pass that went through the goalies’ legs.
Brock Montgomery scored on a breakaway with a shot high on the glove side.
Joe Antilla made it 7-1 with a shot that went off the goalies’ shoulder into the net.
Blazers changed goalies again as Cheveldave went back between the pipes.

Max Reinhart extended his point streak to 5 games (4-5-9), Sam Reinhart to 4 games (3-9-12) and Joe Antilla (2-5-7) to 4 games.
Sam Reinhart, who was nowhere near the top 20 in rookie scoring 1 week ago, is close to the top 5.
Jesse Ismond had a Gordie Howe hat-trick with a goal, assist and fight all in the 2nd period.
Drew Czerwonka had a 3-pont game (1-2-3).

The ICE scored 6 goals in the second period, the Franchise record is 7 Feb 26/02 2nd period vs Prince George in a 10-4 win.

Kamloops Coach Guy Charron, a native of Verdin, Quebec, is the oldest coach in the league at age 62.
On January 12/71 Detroit traded Frank Mahovlich to Montreal for forwards Mickey Redmond, Bill Collins & Guy Charron.
The ICE and Blazers are still in the Record Book for the longest WHL playoff game. (Mar 25/03 136 minutes and 56 seconds) Colin Sinclair scored the game winner in the 4th overtime.

The ICE will wrap-up the B.C. Division trip Friday in Kelowna.
