Medicine Hat 6 Kootenay 4 Game #31

Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE losing streak is now at 4 games with a 6-4 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL action on Friday night.

The Tigers opened the scoring on a shorthanded breakaway by Hunter Shinkaruk who is 3rd in the league in goal scoring.
On the same powerplay the ICE tied the game on a slap shot from Elgin Pearce.
On Teddy Bear Night the fans got a chance throw bears, toques and mittens onto the ice.
The Tigers regained the 1-goal lead on rebound goal by Reid Petryk.

Early in the second period the Tigers took a 3-1 as they created a turnover at the blueline and Trevor Cox scored with a wrist shot high on the stick side.
The Tigers increased the lead to 4-1 on a powerplay goal by James Bettauer.
ICE changed goalies as Mackenzie Skapski replaced Nathan Lieuwen
The Tigers created a 2-on-1 in the ICE zone and Scott Mackay made it 5-2
The ICE scored 49 seconds later as Brendan Hurley finished off a play near the net.

Midway through the 3rd period the ICE scored a powerplay goal as Joey Leach got a shot through from the blueline that went between the goalies’ legs.
The ICE pulled the goalie with 1:45 left and scored on a scramble near the net with Dylen McKinaly scoring with and backhand.
The ICE pulled the goalie again and Scott McKay scored his 2nd of the game into the empty net.

This was the first home game in 26 days for the ICE who played 9 straight road games over the last 3 ½ weeks.
Joe Antilla played his 300th career regular season game with the ICE and is the 6th player to reach that milestone with Kootenay.
Max Reinhart was named ICE Player of the month for November and Jesse Ismond was Community Relations Player of the Month.
Good Samaritans – Earlier this week Jeff Hubic, Brock Montgomery and John Neibrandt found a wallet at the Canadian Tire parking lot and returned it with all of its contents which included $160.
Tigers’ rookie defenseman Spencer Jensen was selected 14th overall in the 2010 Bantam and the ICE had the next pick and took Sam Reinhart.
Sam Reinhart’s 3rd period penalty was the first penalty of his career.
The ICE will visit Medicine Hat on Saturday.
Max Reinhart and Tyler Bunz won’t play in the rematch as they head to Calgary for Canada’s selection camp.
Emerson Etem will attend the USA camp in Camrose next week.
