Red Deer 4 Kootenay 2 Game #33

Cranbrook, BC – The Red Deer Rebels ended a 13 game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Tuesday night.

The Rebels (15-15-0-3) opened the scoring as Colten Mayor banked one in from behind the net that squeaked through the goalies legs.
The ICE (20-10-1-2) tied the game late in the period as Joey Leach’s slap shot from the point sneaked through the goalie.

Early in the second period the ICE scored on the powerplay as Elgin Pearce slapped a one-timer on a feed from Jesse Ismond.
Ismond extended his point streak to four games.
Thirty seconds later the Rebels tied the game on a long slap shop from Turner Elson.
The Rebels took a 3-2 lead on a goal mouth scramble with Mayor getting his 2nd of the game.

In the third period the Rebels added an insurance goal as Tyson Ness got a loose puck near the crease and beat the goalie who misplayed the puck that came off the end boards.

The win ended the Rebels losing streak at a Franchise Record 13 games (0-11-2-0-2)
