Kootenay 2 Medicine Hat 1 Game #67

Medicine Hat, Alb – The Kootenay ICE scored 2 second period goals in a 2-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL action on Wednesday night.

The win clinched a playoff spot for the ICE who have the longest active streak at 14 consecutive years.

The ICE (36-23-4-4) opened the scoring in the second period off a turnover at the Tiger line and Brock Montgomery faked a wrist shot and shovelled the puck into the net on the backhand.
The ICE made it 2-0 midway through the period with Jeff Hubic passing the puck to the top of the crease for Luke Philp to redirect into the net for his 1st career goal.

The Tigers (40-22-2-3) pulled the goalie with 1:20 left and Emerson Etem scored his league leqding 56th of the year on a 2-on-1 in front of the net.

Going into the game the ICE had scored 1 powerplay goal in the last 7 games and that was a 2-man advantage goal vs Edmonton.
The ICE will host Medicine Hat on Friday.
