Medicine Hat 3 Kootenay 1 Game #16

Medicine hat, Alb – Medicine Hat Tigers Hunter Shinkaruk and Curtis Valk each had 3 point games in a 3-1 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Sunday night.

The ICE have lost 7 games in a row.

The Tigers (10-9-1-0) opened the scoring late in the first period with Elgin Pearce putting in a Hunter Shinkaruk rebound.
ICE (4-11-1-0) starting goalie Mackenzie Skapski had a season high 15 saves in a period in the first frame.

Midway through the second period the Tigers scored on the powerplay with defenseman Kyle Becker scoring with a low wrist shot.
Late in the period Sam Reinhart scored his 2nd goal in 2 nights with a backhand shot that went-in off the post.
Reinhart and Luke Philp will turn 17 this week with both having their birthdays on Tuesday.

Late in the 3rd period the Tigers scored an empty net powerplay goal from Hunter Shinkaruk.

Kootenay and Medicine Hat don’t meet again until January 11th.
The ICE will host Moose Jaw on Saturday.
