Kootenay 3 Medicine Hat 2 Game #48

Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE got a late third period goal from Luke Philp in 3-2 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers in WHL action on Wednesday night.

The Tigers (23-23-2-1) scored late in the first period on the powerplay with Hunter Shinkaruk alone in front of the net and scored with a quick shot.
It’s the 9th straight game that the ICE have trailed and have given up the first goal of the game 6 games in a row.

The ICE (22-25-1-0) tied the game early in the second period on a powerplay with Brock Montgomery alone in front of the net for a wrist shot high on the glove side.
The Tigers took a 2-1 lead 2 seconds after an unsuccessful powerplay with Dylan Bredo getting a rebound in the slot for an open net goal.
With 10 seconds left in the period the ICE tied the game on the powerplay with Brock Montgomery near the crease to redirect a Sam Reinhart pass into the net.

With under 6 minutes left the ICE got the game winner from Luke Philp putting in a Kyle O’Connor rebound.
The ICE have won 12 of their last 13 games and 7 straight at home.
The Tigers had their winning streak stopped at 3 games.

Jaedon Descheneau (11 games) and Sam Reinhart (11 games) extended their point streaks.
Brock Montgomery became the 31st forward in ICE history to reach 100 career points.
Tanner Faith left the game early in the second period after receiving a hit from Jacob Doty who received a minor penalty, Faith did not return to the game.

Joey Leach became the 16th player is team history to play in 250 career regular season games for the ICE.
Tanner Muth played in his 200th career regular season game (72 w/ICE).
Earlier in the day former ICE Head Coach Mark Holick (07-10) was named the new Head Coach in Prince George.
