Kootenay 4 Red Deer 1 Game #38

Cranbrook, BC – Kootenay ICE forward Luke Philp scored twice in a 4-1 win over the Red Deer Rebels in WHL action on Wednesday night.

The ICE (13-24-1-0) opened the scoring midway through the first period off a turnover at the Rebels blue line with Jaedeon Descheneau feeding Sam Reinhart near the crease for a redirection into the top of the net.

In the second period the ICE took a 2-0 lead with Luke Philp making a couple of shifty moves to get to the slot and scored with a shot high on the stick side.

The Rebels (22-16-2-1) scored midway through the third period off a turnover Rhyse Dieno finished off a 2-on-1 break with his 10th of the season.
Kootenay scored on the powerplay with Luke Philp finding a loose puck near the net and tucked it in behind the goalie.
The Rebels pulled their goalie with 1:12 left and Jeff Hubic, in his 93rd career game, scored his 1st career goal.

For the third time this season the ICE are on a 3-game winning streak while the Rebels have lost 3 in a row.

It’s the 3rd multi-goal game for Luke Philp.

Collin Shirley (4 GP 0-1-1) and Team West (0-3-1) will play their final game of the U-17 Tournament on Thursday as they will face-off against Slovakia (0-4) in the 9th Place Game.

The ICE will host Swift Current on Friday.
