Kootenay 5 Calgary 1 Game #61

Cranbrook, BC – The Kootenay ICE extended their home winning streak to 12 games with a 5-1 win over the Calgary Hitmen in WHL action on Saturday.

The ICE (30-29-2-0) opened the scoring in the second period with Levi Cable in the middle slot with a wrist shot that beat the goalie high on the glove side.
Late in the period the ICE made it 2-0 on a powerplay with Jakub Prochazkha scoring on a goal mouth scramble.
It’s his 1st career PPG and his first goal scored on home ice as his 2 previous goals came on the road.
The Hitmen (40-18-1-3) lost defenseman Jaynen Rissling early in the second period after blocking a shot in his lower leg.

In the third period Hitmen forward Pavlov Padakin scored with a wrist shot high on the glove side.
It was a 1-goal game with 4 minutes left in the game.
Brock Montgomery on a power-play deflection, Jaedon Descheneau on a rebound and Jordyn Boyd into an empty net made the final 5-1.

The ICE have tied a Franchise Record with 12 straight home wins. (Nov 26/06-Jan 27/07)

Brock Montgomery (6 games) and Sam Reinhart (7 games and 23 of 24 games) extended their point streaks.

The ICE will visit Lethbridge on Sunday.

Defenseman Tanner Faith returned after missing 12 games to an upper body injury.

Cranbrook, BC -- The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club is pleased to announce that the Jersey off the Back raised $6,155 for the Kootenay ICE Education Fund.
On Saturday, February 23rd when the ICE hosted the Calgary Hitmen, the game worn RBK white jerseys were auctioned off in a silent auction. Defenseman Jagger Dirk game worn jersey brought in the most money at $600.
The jersey winners will receive their jerseys at the conclusion of 2013 season. The Kootenay ICE would like to thank all the fans for their support.
