Calgary 5 Kootenay 3 Game #71

Cranbrook, BC – The Calgary Hitmen scored 3 third period goals in a 5-3 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Friday.

The ICE (34-35-2-0) opened the scoring on a first period powerplay rebound goal by Luke Philp.
Less than 2 minutes later Sam Reinhart, after receiveing a drop pass from Jon Martin, made it 2-0 on wrist shot low on the glove side.
The Hitmen (46-20-1-4) got a breakaway goal from Calder Brooks to cut the lead to 2-1.

In the second period the ICE made it 3-1 with a deflection by Austin Vetterl on a point shot from Joey Leach.
Calgary scored a powerplay goal on a back door pass to Brady Brassart.

In the third period the Hitmen tied the game on a powerplay rebound goal by Cody Sylvester.
Less than 2 minutes later Sylvester got his 2nd of period on another rebound.
Brady Brassart added an empty net goal to make the final 5-3.

With the loss the ICE will finish in 8th place and will play Edmonton in the first round of the playoffs.
