Red Deer 6 Kootenay 4 Game #66

Red Deer, Alb – The Red Deer Rebels scored 4 second period goal in a 6-4 win over the Kootenay ICE in WHL action on Tuesday.

The Rebels (37-24-4-2) opened the scoring off a faceoff win in the ICE zone and Matt Bellerive scored on a slap shot that beat the screened goalie on the glove side.
23 seconds later the ICE (33-31-2-0) tied the game with Austin Vetterl and Sam Reinhart finding a wide open Jaedon Descheneau in the middle slot and his wrist shot beat the goalie on the stick side.

In the second period the Rebels scored on the first shift as Rhyse Dieno was stopped on a breakaway but Brooks Maxwell followed to find the puck lying on the goal line.
Less than 2 minutes later Levi Cable tied the game after creating a turnover at their blueline and scored with low wrist shot on the stick side.
The Rebels regained the lead on the powerplay with Tyson Ness alone in the slot for a wrist shot high on the glove side.
The ICE tied the game again on a powerplay point shot by Joey Leach.
39 seconds later Red Deer made it 4-3 with Mathew Dumba joining the rush.
Rebels ended the period with a 2-goal lead on a deflection by Tyson Ness.
Ness is the 30th opposition player to have a multi-goal game against the ICE.

The ICE changed goalies to start the third period with Wyatt Hoflin replacing Mackenzie Skapski.
Hoflin’s last game was January 30th in Edmonton.
The Rebels added to their lead with Cody Thiel’s slap shot going of the goalie’s shoulder into the net.
The ICE scored another powerplay goal with Jaedon Descheneau deking the goalie to the ground and tucked it into the net.

Jaedon Descheneau (3 games) and Joey Leach (4 games) extended their point streaks.

The ICE will visit Tri City on Friday.
