10 Things

1. The ICE will start their 18th year in the WHL and the 16th since moving to Cranbrook.

2. Last year the ICE were one of the youngest teams in the WHL and with an amazing 2nd half, they made the playoffs for the 15th year in a row.
The ICE are still a young team with 16 of the 24 players on the roster who are 18 years old or younger.

3. The ICE have 17 returning players with both goalies, 4 defensemen and 11 forwards, including 11 of their top 13 point getters from last season.

4. The ICE and Rebels will play each other 8 times this season.
Last year the Rebels won the last 3 meetings to take the season series 5-3.

5. It’s the first game for Sam Reinhart as the 18th Captain in team history.

6. The ICE have never had a forward selected in the first round of the NHL Draft and Reinhart is rated #1 in many draft rankings.

7. Jagger Dirk is the active leader with 241 career regular season games, Reinhart 143, Martin 128, Cable 127, Hubic 126, Descheneau 123.

8. This is the 4th time, and 3rd time in Cranbrook, that the ICE will host the Rebels in their home opener.

9. The ICE are 9-5-2-1 on opening night and are 12-3-2 in their home openers.

10. Head Coaches Ryan McGill and Brent Sutter will be on Team Canada’s bench at this years’ World Junior Hockey Championships.
