ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter the Christmas Break with a 18-16-2-1 record (10-9-0-1 at home, 8-7-2-0 on the road, 0-2 in overtime, 3-1 in shootouts) and in seventh place in the EASTERN CONFERENCE...The ICE will return to CRANBROOK on December 27 to start a home and home series against tHE SPOKANE CHIEFS (December 28 IN SPOKANE).

DID YOU KNOW: KOOTENAY is 11-9-1-0 when outshooting their opponent, 6-6-1-1 when being outshot and 1-1-0-0 when shots are tied…The ICE are 13-3-1-1 when they score the first goal of the game and 5-13-1-0 when their opponent scores first…KOOTENAY is eighth in the WHL in overall power play (22.9%)...The ICE are ninth in the LEAGUE in overall penalty killing (80.0%)…SAM REINHART has been named to TEAM CHERRY for the BMO CHL/NHL TOP PROSPECTS GAME in CALGARY, ALBERTA on January 15...JAEDON DESCHENEAU, who is sixth in the WHL in goals scored with 23, is tied for ninth in the League in points with 48 (23-25-48)…DESCHENEAU has played in 158 WHL career games in KOOTENAY...SAM REINHART, who is tied for sixth in the WHL in points with 50 (16-34-50), is third in the League in assists with 34...TIM BOZON needs to record eight more points to reach 200 in his WHL career.

TRANSACTIONS / INJURIES: Forward SAM REINHART is attending the TEAM CANADA SELECTION CAMP...Defenseman TROY MURRAY will be attending the 2014 WORLD U-17 HOCKEY CHALLENGE in CAPE BRETON, NOVA SCOTIA (December 28 – January 5) as part of TEAM WEST...KOOTENAY has added 16-year-old Defenseman DYLAN OVERDYK (August 3, 1997) from the EDMONTON MAPLE LEAFS of the AMHL and 16-year-old Forward AUSTIN WELLSBY (June 30, 1997) from the FRASER VALLEY THUNDERBIRDS of the BCMML to the roster...Defenseman TANNER FAITH will be out of the ICE line up indefinitely with an upper body injury...Forward RYAN CHYNOWETH and Defenseman JAGGER DIRK will both be out of the KOOTENAY line up one week with upper body injuries...Defenseman RINAT VALIEV will be out of the ICE line up day to day with a lower body injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 37 games of the 2012-2013 season the ICE 12-24-1-0, after 38 games were 13-24-1-0 and after 39 games were 14-24-1-0.
