Three second-period goals paced the Portland Winterhawks to a 5-2 victory over the Kootenay ICE Friday afternoon in Portland.

Danish import Oliver Bjorkstrand scored twice, including the game-winning goal while goaltender Adin Hill stopped 43 ICE shots as the Winterhawks won their fourth consecutive game.

Bjorkstrand opened the scoring just past the eight-minute mark of the opening period, but Kootenay put itself back on even terms later in the frame on a power-play. Tim Bozon wired home his seventh goal of the season at 13:39 to level the score at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The ICE outshot Portland 20-5 in the opening period, but the Winterhawks more than doubled their shot total in the second stanza. Alex Schoenborn put the hosts ahead just before the three-minute mark.

Bjorkstrand and defenseman Blake Heinrich added singles before the frame was out, despite Kootenay holding a 32-16 shot advantage through two periods.

ICE captain Sam Reinhart cut into Portland's lead on a third-period power play, converting on a setup from Jaedon Descheneau for his fifth goal of the season at 8:43.

The Winterhawks rounded out the scoring in the latter stages of the period, going ahead 5-2 on forward Nic Petan's 100th career WHL goal.

Reinhart extended his point streak to nine games Friday, while Descheneau's two assists ensured his streak to eight games.

Bozon recorded a multi-point game with a goal and an assist.

Wyatt Hoflin stopped 22 shots in goal for Kootenay in his 14th consecutive start.
