ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 26-22-0-1 record (16-8-0-0 at home, 10-14-0-1 on the road, 5-0 in overtime, 1-1 in shootouts) and in fourth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and seventh place in the new playoff wildcard standings...KOOTENAY, winners of four consecutive contests, will visit LETHBRIDGE January 28 before opening a seven game home stand January 30 versus REGINA.

DID YOU KNOW: Two KOOTENAY forwards were named last week to the NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING MIDTERM RANKINGS for the 2015 NHL DRAFT…ZAK ZBOROSKY was ranked 97th while LUKE PHILP was rated 191st among North American skaters…Forward AUSTIN WELLSBY scored his first career WHL goal (a game-winner) January 25 versus PRINCE GEORGE...Goaltender KEELAN WILLIAMS earned his first career WHL victory January 25 against the COUGARS (26 saves)...Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU scored his 100th career WHL goal January 24 versus SWIFT CURRENT...DESCHENEAU is two points shy of 250 career WHL points...Forward LEVI CABLE collected his 100th career WHL point (assist) January 24 against the BRONCOS...Forward TIM BOZON tallied his 100th point with the ICE (assist) January 24 versus SWIFT CURRENT...BOZON recorded his fourth career hat-trick (and second with KOOTENAY) January 22 in EDMONTON...BOZON is two assists away from 150 in his WHL career…Forward AUSTIN VETTERL played in his 250th career WHL regular season game January 24 versus the BRONCOS...Forward LUKE PHILP appeared in his 200th career WHL regular season game January 22 against the OIL KINGS…Forward RYAN CHYNOWETH is two games away from 200 career WHL regular season appearances...The next ICE win will be the 700th in club history dating back to the inaugural 1996-97 season in EDMONTON (699-515-131).

INJURY: Defenseman TANNER FAITH will be out of the ICE lineup four to six months with an upper body injury.

STREAKS: SAM REINHART has collected points in each of his past eight games (2-10-12)…LUKE PHILP (4-6-10) and JAEDON DESCHENEAU (3-6-9) are both riding six-game point streaks...TYLER KING has points in his last four games (2-3-5)...TIM BOZON (5-2-7), LEVI CABLE (3-2-5) and RINAT VALIEV (0-4-4) have all recorded points in three straight games.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 49 games of the 2013-14 season the ICE were 25-20-2-2, after 50 games 25-21-2-2 and after 51 games 26-21-2-2.
