ICE Weekly Update

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 21-20-0-1 record (13-8-0-0 at home, 8-12-0-1 on the road, 5-0 in overtime, 1-1 in shootouts) and in fifth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and eighth place in the new playoff wildcard standings...KOOTENAY, who are 6-3-0-1 in the last ten games, will begin a three-game EAST DIVISION road trip January 14 in MOOSE JAW before stops in PRINCE ALBERT January 16 and SASKATOON January 17.

DID YOU KNOW: Forward SAM REINHART is four points behind JARRET STOLL for the ICE franchise lead in career regular season points (286)...Forward LUKE PHILP registered his 100th career assist January 10 versus SASKATOON...PHILP is five games short of 200 career regular season games played...Forward LEVI CABLE was named the STEEPLES CONSTRUCTION PLAYER OF THE MONTH for December with 11 points (7-4-11), including a five point outing versus CALGARY December 27...CABLE is three points shy of 100 career WHL points...Defenseman CALE FLEURY scored his first career WHL goal January 9 versus RED DEER...Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU is two goals away from 100 career regular season tallies...DESCHENEAU sits fifth among all-time franchise points leaders (239 points)...DESCHENEAU is also tied with MAX REINHART for fourth in career assists with 141...Goaltender WYATT HOFLIN set a new KOOTENAY ICE franchise record with appearances in 29 consecutive games (October 24 - January 9)...HOFLIN is ranked second among WHL netminders in minutes played (2,231) and saves (1,107)...Former ICE forward KEVIN KING (UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY DINOS) put up four points (1-3-4), including a short-handed goal, in a two-game sweep of the SASKATCHEWAN HUSKIES January 9 and 10...The DINOS (15-7-0) are ranked second in the CIS CANADA WEST CONFERENCE, and are led in scoring by former KOOTENAY forward ELGIN PEARCE (12-11-23).

TRANSACTION / INJURY: KOOTENAY acquired Defenseman LENNY HACKMAN (January 30, 1995) from the LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES in exchange for a 12th round selection in the 2015 WHL BANTAM DRAFT on January 8...Defenseman TANNER FAITH will be out of the ICE lineup indefinitely with an upper body injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 42 games of the 2013-14 season the ICE were 20-19-2-1, after 43 games 21-19-2-1 and after 44 games 21-20-2-1.
