ICE Weekly Report

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 31-27-1-1 record (19-12-1-0 at home, 12-15-0-1 on the road, 6-1 in overtime, 1-1 in shootouts) and in fourth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION and seventh place in the new playoff wildcard standings...KOOTENAY, winners of three consecutive games, will play the next four contests away from home beginning February 24 at SWIFT CURRENT.

JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: The 2015 JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT will take place March 6 when the ICE host the RED DEER REBELS...Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on the blue alternate game-worn jerseys...The winning bidder of each jersey will get to meet their player after the game and will receive their jersey at the conclusion of the playoffs...All proceeds will go the KOOTENAY ICE EDUCATION FUND.

DID YOU KNOW: Goaltender WYATT HOFLIN has been named the WHL nominee for the VAUGHN CHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK for the week ending February 22...In three wins, HOFLIN posted a 1.00 goals-against average and .968 save percentage including a 29-save shutout February 21 at SPOKANE...HOFLIN, who is two appearances shy of 100 career games played, surpassed 5,000 career minutes played February 17 at LETHBRIDGE...Forward SAM REINHART became the first ICE player to reach 300 career points February 20 versus EDMONTON...Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU played in his 250th career game February 20 against the OIL KINGS... Defenseman TANNER LISHCHYNSKY appeared in his 100th career game February 20 versus EDMONTON...Forward RYAN CHYNOWETH made his 100th appearance in a KOOTENAY uniform February 20 against the OIL KINGS...Forward MATT ALFARO matched a career high with three points (two goals, one assist) February 17 against the HURRICANES...ALFARO also recorded his first career power play goal February 17 at LETHBRIDGE...The ICE matched a franchise record for fastest goal from the start of a period away from home (TIM BOZON, 0:08 third period) February 17 against the HURRICANES...The record was originally set December 18, 1998 by STEVE McCARTHY at RED DEER...BOZON is two appearances away from 250 career games played...KOOTENAY has scored on five of their last six power-play opportunities...Former ICE goaltender MACKENZIE SKAPSKI (NEW YORK RANGERS) earned his first career NHL victory (24 saves) in his first career start February 20 at BUFFALO.

STREAKS: JAEDON DESCHENEAU has recorded points in each of his last six games (3-8-11)...LUKE PHILP is riding a four-game point streak (3-4-7)...AUSTIN VETTERL has tallied points in each of his last three games (1-3-4).

INJURY: Defenseman TANNER FAITH will be out of the ICE lineup three to five months with an upper body injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 60 games of the 2013-14 season the ICE were 34-22-2-2, after 61 games 35-22-2-2 and after 62 games 35-23-2-2.
